Science Fair Winners
Thomas County Middle School held its annual Science Fair on January 16th. Over 80 projects were entered into the fair by 6th, 7th & 8th graders. Judges came from Florida State University, Albany State University, Thomas University, the Crime Lab, and The Scholars Academy and Thomas County Central High School.
Category Winners are as follows:
In Computer Science – Honorable Mention goes to Kaitlyn Mercer
In Chemistry – Honorable Mentions go to Abby Mitchell, Jeremy Simmons, & Drew Lloyd. 3rd Place went to Kealie Bennett. 2nd Place was Casey Dollar. 1st Place went to Hailey Silvia
In Engineering – 2nd Place went to Logan Covington. 1st Place went to Sierra Stephens.
In Physics (the category with the largest number of entries this year) – 3rd place went to Caroline Pope. 2nd Place went to Katelyn Hancock and 1st Place was won by Jackson NeSmith.
In Consumer Chemistry – 2nd Place went to Brianna Parker. 1st place went to Elizabeth Nix
In Microbiology – 2nd place was won by Kenlie Harvey. 1st place was won by Gretchen Turnbull.
In Botany – 2nd place went to Brooklyn Reese. 1st place went to Kaitlyn Douglas.
 In Medicine & Health – Honorable Mention went to Alan Brinn. 2nd Place went to Katelyn Hobbs. First place was earned by Mary Beth Wise.
In Behavioral Science – 3rd place went to Kennedy Ward. 2nd Place went to Hailey Ferrel and 1st place went to Celia Kornegay.
In Zoology – Honorable Mention went to Madison Smith. 3rd Place went to Faythe Choate. 2nd place was won by Tyler Williamson. 1st Place was earned by Morgan Warr.
In Environmental Sciences – 2nd Place went to Nicholas Cooper. 1st Place was won by Brentley Odom
In Earth Science, 1st Place was won by Riley Jones.
The Overall category winners were in the Physical Sciences, Jackson NeSmith; in the Life Sciences, Celia Kornegay; in the Earth& Space Sciences, Brentley Odom.
The Jackie Winchester Memorial Award, which is given to the overall winner of the entire TCMS Science Fair was awarded to Jackson NeSmith.
