Celebrating with Art

Thomas

In celebration of Black History Month, Cross Creek students learned about Alma Woodsey Thomas, a Georgia-born artist who was a teacher most of her life. She became a famous painter in her 70’s. Mrs. Ray, Cross Creek's art teacher, taught different color schemes, patterns, and shapes while looking at examples of her work. Students then made their own paintings inspired by Thomas’ pieces.
