Reading ‘Besties’ Benefit in Partnerships

Kindergarteners in Keri Johnson’s class engage in Intervention and Enrichment each morning at Hand-in-Hand Primary School.  Small group time includes “Language for Learners” with the class paraprofessional, Guided Reading with Johnson, and partner reading.  Students are paired with specific partners based on their reading levels. Some days students are paired with a peer at the same reading level while other days Johnson may pair an advanced reader and a lower-leveled reader.  “They are helping each other and don't even realize it,” said Johnson.
