Thomas County students at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary School are screened in reading and math at the beginning, middle, and the end of the year through benchmark assessments provided by Acadience Learning and Data Management.  Pictured are Reading Interventionists Erin Logue, Desiree Celaya, Donna Corbin, and Joy Clark who make up the “SWAT Team” that systematically screens the entire student body at each benchmark to increase continuity and validity of the reading assessments.  Data from the screeners is used to detect students’ progress and deficits as well as what level of need is appropriate within the district’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process.  Student progress is additionally monitored throughout the year by classroom teachers and interventionists between the benchmark screeners.
