Thomas County first and second graders at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary School won top honors in the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Junior Citizens Contest themed: “The 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail:  Moving Stars and Stripes Westward.”  First place winners at the local level will be submitted in progression for the state, southeastern region, and national levels of competition for banner, stamp design, and poster.

First grade winners in the stamp category are:  Wayland Gainey (1^st place) and Madalyn Morris (2^nd place).                                                 

First grade winners in the banner category are:  Everly Greene, Syd Hamm, Wayland Gainey, Sam Kantner, Leyla Rodriguez, and Violet Mares (1^st place).

First grade winners in the stamp category are:  Cannon Creech (1^st place), Leyla Rodriguez (2^nd place), and Charlotte Broome (3^rd place).                             

Second grade winners in the banner category are: Wilder Howard, Parker Van Heiningen, Rebecca Jane Lackey, Piper Tillman, and Gracen Rose Warren (1^st place).

Second grade winners in the banner category are: Piper Knight, Andi Smith, and Meredith Mata (2^nd place). 

Second grade winners in the poster category are:  Mattison Haymons (1^st place), Foster Burnette (2^nd place), Wilder Howard (3^rd place), and Gracen Rose Warren (Honorable Mention).                                  

Second grade winners in the stamp category are:  Camden Wood (1^st place), Wilder Howard (2^nd place), Mattison Haymons (3^rd place), and Piper Knight (Honorable Mention).
