Garrison-Pilcher Students Study Landforms

landform lessons at GP

Thomas County first graders at Garrison Pilcher Elementary annual study the topic of landforms in their social studies classes, but this year they embarked on a multimedia and multisensory adventure.  Students participated in a three-part STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activity to examine landforms such as mountains, valleys, coasts, and deserts. Students toured the different landforms across the world through virtual reality headsets with Digital Learning Specialist Joshua Mimbs, used coding skills to program Bee-Bots with Media Specialist Elexis Griffin to visit the landforms, and created landforms with Legos in the Media Center MakerSpace.
