Notice of Property Tax Increase for 2012

The Thomas County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 7.91 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the first and second public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Board’s Administrative Offices located at 200 North Pinetree Boulevard on Thursday, August 9th, 2012 at 9:30 am and at 6:30 pm.
A third and final public hearing will be held on Thursday, August 16th at 6:30 pm at the same location.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.73 mills, an increase of 1.08 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.65 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $125,000 is approximately $54.00 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $65.00.
