How do I help my child with AR at home?

It is very important that you read with your child every day. Allow them to sound out words and read to you every night. This helps with the fluency of sight words and increases their reading ability. A student should read their AR book three times before they take an AR test.

If your child does not do well on the quiz:

1. Ask more probing questions as your child reads and before he take a quiz.

2. Some books such as non-fiction books are more difficult to quiz on. Your child's grade level and color dot should be written on the inside of his/her AR folder.

3. Your child may need to read a book two times or more before quizzing.
