Show Respect &  Make good choices!

Positive Consequences

We appreciate and acknowledge students who exhibit desired behaviors. Students will have opportunities to earn classroom incentives for demonstrating positive behaviors.

Such as:

  • drink a soda in class, eat a snack in class, outside lunch pass, or lunch buddy

Corrective Consequences

In order to maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all, we discourage inappropriate behavior in our school and classrooms. The following guidelines will be followed for discouraging inappropriate behaviors:

  • If a student does not follow one of our school or classroom expectations, he/she will receive a warning and will be retaught the desired behavior.

  • If a student does not correct his/her behavior after the warning, the student will have a consequence and a parent or guardian will be contacted about the behavior (email or phone call and will have 15 minutes of silent lunch).

  • After parent contact, if the behavior continues, level b will be given and lunch detention will be given for the entire lunch period.

  • If your child accumulates two or more level b’s within each nine weeks, your child may not attend the next field trip.

  • Five Classroom Discipline Reports (level b) that occur over the course of a quarter or one severe offense will result in an office referral. All office referrals will be sent to the office to be seen by a principal and consequences will be administered by the principal.

Behavior Letter: 2nd 9 Weeks

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe the first nine-week period is over!  We have seen tremendous growth in the students already.  They are more organized, have a handle on the schedule, and are really providing great “thinking” during our class discussions.

As we begin our second nine weeks, we would like to inform you of some updates to our behavior policies. These policies will be for the rest of the year, unless we notify you.

Behavior Policy

We have seen growth in your child’s behavior over the last nine weeks, and we want to continue to see growth throughout the year. We want to reiterate a few of our expectations with you and your child. For example, our handbook states no gum. Your child may receive a mark if caught with gum. Likewise, students are expected to transition from class to class quietly and remain in a line. Furthermore, we expect students to follow all school rules while in the bathroom. To help our students continue to grow, we are changing our expectations with the consequences portion of our behavior plan. The first mark will be a warning, the second mark will result in a parent contact and silent lunch for 15 minutes. The third mark will result in a level b and silent lunch for our entire lunch period. If your child is on the behavior chart for three weeks in a row, this will result in a level b. Five level b’s will result in an administrative referral and can impact your child’s ability to attend future field trips and Jacket Jam at the end of the nine weeks. Also, three or more parent contacts or level b’s and or ISS will result in not getting to participate in Jacket Jam for that nine weeks.

Thank you,
