US History is a year long course required for graduation, typically taken during the Sophomore year at TCCHS. The course directly follows the curriculum laid out by the GA state standards that can be found here. There will be a GA End of Course Assessment taken in May that will count 20% of the student's final course grade.  Along with learning the historical content of the curriculum, students will also work to improve their reading, writing, understanding, and critical thinking skills that are necessary in a democracy. 

Our textbook is a paperback consumable textbook.  Each student will be issued a textbook that is to go home with them each night and brought to class daily.  There are assignments in the textbook students will complete for a grade.  Students may write in their textbooks.  If their textbook is lost, students will be expected to buy a replacement at a cost of $16.

Reading, writing and technology will be incorporated into the curriculum.  Assignments may be completed through Google Classroom, in an interactive notebook, and in the textbook.  Students will be required to bring their textbook, Chromebook and earbuds for class daily.  Students will have homework assignments in the textbook and online as well as projects throughout the year.  Students will have some time in class to work on these, but will often need access to the internet at home to research information and complete individual projects or homework assignments.
