Make Up and Redo Policy
A student may be absent for many reasons. Some absences are unavoidable. When a student is at home sick or on a school field trip or participating with a school activity, he/she remains responsible to complete missing work. If necessary, a student can request to remain at school from 3:00pm to 4:00pm under the guidance of Mr. Braswell to complete missing work due to an absence from school. Sometimes, a student will need to complete a daily assignment or another form of assessment on the day he/she returns to school. In this case, the student may also have the opportunity (at the teacher's discretion) to retake or redo the assignment for the opportunity to earn a better grade.
When a student does not complete or submit an assignment or assessment or project, it is first counted as MISSING. Mr. Braswell will enter an M or a 0 into the Infinite Campus Grade Book. An M (missing) calculates automatically as a Zero. If the student does not submit the missing assignment, the M will remain and/or change to a permanent 0. Yet, students have the opportunity to submit missing assignments.
The TCMS Handbook (applies to 5th and 6th Grade students) states:
TCCMS Make-up Work Policy
A student may turn in missing work for 5 school days past the completion of all three of the following conditions:
Past the due date
Student is aware the assignment is missing
The missing grade is entered into Infinite Campus as missing. Made up missing work will have
10 points deducted from the grade earned
.
TCMS Assessment Re-Do Policy
Periodically there are legitimate reasons for a student to have the opportunity to redo an assessment or major project. A teacher may elect to administer a new assessment to an entire class. A student or his/her parent may request a redo from the teacher under the following conditions:
All redo work is at the
discretion of the teacher
. It is not to be taken for granted that all assessments may be redone.
The redo activity may be in a different format from the original.
Parents are to sign the original task and request a redo opportunity.
The student must complete a redo request form with his/her teacher.
In the request the student must state what action(s) he/she will or has taken to warrant the redo.
Redo must be completed within 5 school days past the completion of all three of the following:
Due date has past or Student is aware of the original grade.
Grade has been posted in Infinite Campus.
Student is aware of original grade.
